The Fall Favorites tag has been floating around YouTube recently and I la-la-loooove it, so I thought I’d join in on the fun. A lot of these are torturously difficult because I can’t choose just one answer. I have commitment issues. So I put 2 things for most. Is that cheating? Don’t care! So here you have it — all my fall favorites on one epic page.

Favorite Candle: Tamarind Spice…or Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin

I feel guilty because it’s so new to my life, but the Tamarind Spice candle from Target is the definition of fall. It smells sooooo warm and spicy. It’s the kind of candle you want burning 24/7 in your house during autumn to make you feel cozy and fuzzy inside. The perfect curl-up-on-the-couch-in-a-huge-blanket candle! For my favorite fall candle, I expected to immediately think of something pumpkin-esque due to my ever-growing pumpkin obsession, but my thoughts automatically went to Tamarind Spice because it’s been such a standout this season. Pumpkin candles are deeeeee-licious, but sometimes they’re just too sweet to burn often, which is where Tamarind Spice comes in. Can’t get sick of it, ever. Plus, it doesn’t make me hungry. Buuuut if we’re going with a close runner-up, I have to give it to Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. Pretty much any one of Bath & Body Works’ pumpkin-scented candles melts my heart, but Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin perfectly blends two of my favorite scents into a delightfully sweet medley, without smelling like syrup (I’m lookin’ at you, Caramel Pumpkin Swirl).

Favorite Lip Color: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry & Wet N’ Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Cinnamon Spice

My go-to fall lippie is the Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry. I’m obsessed with it because the warm, reddish burgundy color makes a statement, but it’s not too dark or bold. It’s light enough that it works with any daytime outfit, but the maroon shade makes it oh-so-fall. Not only is the color absolutely perfect, but the formula is amazing. The crayon applicator makes it super easy to apply, and it stains your lips so it lasts all day. When I want my lips to stand out but don’t want to worry about reapplication or patchiness, this is the lippie I always grab.

Buuuut if I’m looking for something a little deeper and a little “spicier,” I always go with Cinnamon Spice from Wet n’ Wild. This is the perfect red for my pale skin – it’s a warm, deep shade, but it doesn’t wash me out. Finding a deep red can be difficult with my skin tone because they usually make me look dead or like I have orange teeth, but this one’s a winner. Totally vampy, so I love it. This one also has a matte finish, which I adore. The lasting power isn’t perfect, but if you pair this with a liner, you’ll be good to go.

Favorite Drink: Tea, as Usual (Caramel Apple Dream, Chai, & Spiced Pumpkin)

I’m a major tea drinker (because you didn’t already know that), and picking just one of my favorite fall teas feels like picking a favorite child – painful & impossible. If I must choose, the tea that first comes to mind when I think of a cool autumn night is Caramel Apple Dream from Celestial Seasonings. It’s warm and inviting with a rich, deep sweetness and a hint of major nostalgia because I’ve loved it forever. The one downside to this tea is that it has soy lecithin in it, which I am definitely not a fan of. But it’s so yummy that I’ll overlook this flaw and indulge when I’m really craving a hug in a cup.

During autumn (or really any time of year), you can never go wrong with a classic Chai, especially a Chai latte. A chai latte might be the typical basic-girl drink, but it’s basic for a reason. We wouldn’t all be obsessed if it wasn’t so damn delicious.

Lastly, this wouldn’t be a fall favorites post without some pumpkin. I tried Spiced Pumpkin from David’s Tea (fave tea spot) for the first time this year, and I fell head over heels in about five seconds. I’ve tried other brands’ pumpkin teas, but none satisfy me the way this one does. It has pumpkin, cinnamon, maple, cocoa… Is your mouth watering yet? Best. Stuff. Ever. We all know I’m pumpkin obsessed, so was this really a surprise?

Favorite Blush: Wet n’ Wild Mellow Wine

I’m surprised I have two Wet n’ Wild products on this list, to be honest, simply because I don’t own that many Wet n’ Wild products in total. The ones I do own, however, are totally amazing. This blush is a STEAL. Run to the drugstore right now and pick it up if you don’t have it. The pigmentation is amazing, and the blush is super smooth and blendable. This product is about three dollars, yet it performs better than over half of my high-end blushes. A little goes a looong way with this product, especially if you’re super fair like me. The shade is a mauve-y red, and it goes with basically all of my fall makeup looks. This blush pairs PERFECTLY with a warm smoky eye like chocolate pairs with my stomach. The two were meant for each other.

Favorite Clothing Item: SWEATERS!

(From Left to Right)

Love it #1

Want it #2

Need it #3

Adore it #4

Hello beautiful #5

Anyone who knows me at all knows I’m a sweater fiend. My sister is a teacher and draws a lot of pictures of our family as examples for the kids’ projects. In every drawing, I’m wearing a sweater & leggings. So I guess it’s safe to say that everyone knows that’s my go-to outfit. I have 3-4 sweaters that I practically live in, and another million sweaters that I throw into the rotation every once in awhile. You cannot go wrong with a big, cozy sweater in the fall and winter. It’s perfect for spending time out in the crisp autumn air or for just cuddling up on the couch – comfort and cuteness all in one! Pair your fave sweater with some booties, some combat boots, statement jewelry, dainty necklaces, plain tees, patterned blouses – pretty much anything. Basically, sweaters are perfect & everything & life.

Favorite Fall Movie: Harry Potter, or Charlie Brown. Or When Harry Met Sally.

There’s no denying it – Harry Potter is perfect for every season. The holiday scenes in Harry Potter tug at my heart in a certain kinda way though, so it’s one of my favorite series to watch especially during fall (and winter, obviously). There’s nothing I wouldn’t give to be sitting by a crackling fire in the warm Gryffindor common room snuggling up with a hot cup of tea while wearing a Weasley sweater.

Besides that, it’s hard to pick a favorite “fall” movie. What makes a movie “fall” themed? Since fall encompasses Halloween and Thanksgiving, I’m going to go with the non-negotiable, MUST-WATCH EVERY YEAR classics – Charlie Brown. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving bring me back to my childhood bliss instantaneously. If you haven’t popped Charlie Brown on the TV in awhile, set aside your ego and DO IT BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY AND FEEL GOOD.

I also really enjoy watching When Harry Met Sally because it’s one of the best movies ever. They’re surrounded by gorgeous, vibrant fall leaves on the DVD cover, so it’s a fall movie.

Favorite Fall TV Show: How to Get Away With Murder

Is this even a question? If you didn’t catch my post professing my undying love for all things Shonda Rhimes, feel free to indulge for a glimpse into my slight obsession. How to Get Away with Murder is BEYOND my favorite thing on television right now, and I pretty much plan my whole week around watching it on Thursday nights. This show always keeps me on my toes – Shonda knows how to shock. My eyes are glued to the screen as soon as the TV sings the first note of HTGAWM’s intense, villainous theme music. Major praise to ABC for this one. Annalise Keating is such a complicated, twisted badass. I will never be able to fully articulate my adoration for this show.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food: Turkey & Pumpkin Pie. Or Pecan Pie.

First of all, TURKEY. There is no Thanksgiving without turkey. Thanksgiving turkeys are somehow five million times better than normal turkeys. There’s nothing quite like stuffing your face with warm, juicy, oven-roasted turkey while surrounded by loud, crazy family and a table piled high with enough food for an army. I think a lot of the Thanksgiving turkey’s amazing taste has to do with how glorious it looks when it comes out of the oven – like a piece of roasted perfection just calling your name. How can something that looks so mouth-watering be anything but absolutely delectable?

I always hated pumpkin pie growing up, but I tried it again a few years ago and discovered that my taste buds had finally developed. From that moment on, my life changed, and my pumpkin obsession ensued. I was so naive before. I still don’t understand how I survived. While I love everything pumpkin during fall (pumpkin cookies, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin lattes, etc.), on Thanksgiving I’m always in the mood for pumpkin pie. It’s sooo comforting and homey. In general, I don’t like pies. I don’t really like crust. I know, people think that’s weird. But I freaking love the pumpkin filling – it’s all in the texture.

If, somehow, I get pumpkin-ed out (or if I just finish the whole pie, which is more likely) I’ll move onto pecan pie, which is also AH-MAZING. Like I did with pumpkin pie, I fell in love with pecan pie only a few years ago. I used to think it was gross for some insane reason, but I’ve learned to love the delicious mixture of textures one discovers in a perfectly-made pecan pie. And if it’s chocolate pecan pie? I die.

Favorite Halloween Costume: Jack in the Box / Blind Mouse

This is a toughy because (don’t want to toot my own horn or anything), I think I’ve had some pretty fabulous costumes in the past. Buuuuut what’s standing out in my mind right now as my favorite costume is my fifth grade self’s wonderful creation. This is a major throwback, but I was Jack in the Box, and it was pretty epic. I randomly came across a huge Jack in the Box head made out of papier-mache at a garage sale while on my way to a volleyball game, and I bought it for $1 (such a steal). With it I wore some khaki pants and my dad’s sports jacket (I was pretty much drowning in it), and I was all set. I received quite a few compliments that year on my costume, if I do say so myself. I also had a really cute low pony sticking out of the back of the head, which I personally think added something special to the whole ensemble.

Unfortunately, this was prior to the days when my family owned a digital camera, so the only photos of me in my epic costume are buried deep in a box somewhere at my parent’s house. Instead, I’ll bless you with this photo from when I was one of three blind mice. (Yes, that’s lipstick on my nose!)
