When it comes to managing hunger and weight, leptin is one of the key hormones at play. You might have heard of ghrelin, our hunger hormone. Leptin is sort of like ghrelin’s opposite – leptin is our satiety hormone! It tells the brain when our energy needs have been met, indicating that we are full after a meal. Regulated leptin not only keeps our hunger signals on track but also leads to better memory, brain function in general, coordination, and mood regulation.
However, when our leptin signals are off, this can lead to constant hunger, dysregulated emotions, and obesity. If you feel hungry all the time or are struggling with your weight, hacking leptin might help you reach your goals.
