18 Common Mistakes Made on SIBO Protocols

SIBO, or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, can be one of the trickiest gut issues to eliminate, and unfortunately it also has a high rate of recurrence. Nearly half of people who treat their SIBO get it back at some point or another. When there is an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine, this can lead to a number of unwanted symptoms including extreme bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, belching, reflux, nutrient deficiencies, weight changes, and more. I have been through SIBO treatments multiple times myself and have learned a lot from those experiences. My personal experience combined with my experiences helping many clients overcome their own SIBO (plus a lot of research) has taught me that there are a lot of common mistakes people make on SIBO protocols that are hindering the healing process or adding to the likelihood of recurrence. I’ve compiled a list here of some of the most common mistakes people make when trying to heal SIBO, so hopefully you can avoid them!
