Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the body, contributing to over 700 bodily processes! Magnesium is truly your body’s multi-task mineral. It’s well-known to help with relaxation and stress support, but it also supports muscle & nerve function, bone health, immune support, digestive health, and blood sugar regulation. At minimum, magnesium is used for over 300 biochemical reactions in the body, so it’s pretty important. Magnesium is one of the most common minerals to be deficient in, with about 80% of Americans being deficient, but it can be very difficult to assess if you’re getting enough. The tests to see if you have a magnesium deficiency aren’t very accurate, because we only have about 1% of the magnesium in our bodies circulating in our blood at any given time, while the rest is stored in our soft tissues and bones. Because of this, it’s easiest to look at your health and symptoms to figure out if you have a deficiency.
