This week I’m chatting with Dana Monsees from RealFoodwithDana.com! Dana is a nutritionist, Whole 30 certified coach, swim coach, blogger, and podcaster. In this episode, Dana and I chat about what it means to be a nutritionist, how giving nutrition advice is different in different states, how to find good health information, and who can give good health information. Dana shares her own personal health journey and her battles with weight, an eating disorder, and adrenal fatigue. She talks about what it was like being an athlete in high school and college and how that affected her health and body image. She also shares her struggles with bulimia, the difficulties figuring out how to eat in the real world as a college student, and health information she wishes she knew earlier on. We discuss how it can take years for the effects of our decisions to take a toll on our health, and how her lifestyle led her into adrenal fatigue. Dana explains what adrenal fatigue is, how to know if you have it, and what she had to do to overcome it. We discuss cortisol resistance, learning to eat more food, and the connection between overtraining and weight gain. She also talks about the Whole 30, the most common mistakes people make on the Whole 30, and more!

You can find Dana at realfoodwithdana.com and on Instagram (@realfoodwithdana). You can also find her podcast, Real Talk with Dana, on iTunes!
