4 Methods to Help You Feel Present in Every Moment

4 Methods to Help You Feel Present in Every Moment

Today’s society is obsessed with being distracted – whether it’s always having a screen in front of our faces, pushing down our feelings, or simply distracting ourselves with thoughts (this often shows up as fixating on the past or worrying about the future). When we keep ourselves distracted all of the time, it’s no surprise that we can have trouble finding enjoyment and fulfillment in our day-to-day lives. Being able to experience the magic of life – and the key to manifesting what you want – lies in showing up fully and savoring every single moment. (Learn more about this in this podcast episode on Reality Hacks & How to Manifest in Every Moment!)

If you’re ready to live a more aligned and intentional life by being fully present, you can start by following these 4 simple methods:

1. Create a grounding morning practice.

The way you start your morning is SO important – it sets the tone for your entire day! Before allowing anyone else’s energy into your field (yes – this includes checking emails and social media notifications!), devote some time to getting grounded and setting the intention for your day. This can look like meditating, journaling, going on a walk in nature, or simply sitting in silence and breathing deeply for a few minutes – whatever helps you get out of your head, into your body, and into the present moment. By doing a simple practice like this each morning, you can reclaim your day, and you’ll probably feel less stressed about anything that pops up throughout the day.

2. Set boundaries with your time.

It’s hard to feel present when we’re constantly being interrupted by text alerts, email notifications, and background noise. The solution? Set boundaries with when you’re available to give your energy to others! Whether this looks like turning off push notifications on your phone or creating time blocks to focus solely on the task at hand, play around and find a system that works for you – you’ll probably notice that you feel much more focused and in flow.

3. Become aware of your emotions – and process them!

One of the most common things people distract themselves from is their emotions. When we try to ignore our feelings by pushing them down, they’re often still in the back of our minds. This can affect our mood and the way we carry ourselves throughout the day! Practice becoming aware of the moments when you feel your frequency lowering, and try to identify the thoughts and emotions that are responsible. Once you’re clear on why you’re feeling the way you are, it’s critical to move through it! When we actually get to the root and feel our emotions, we allow ourselves to fully move on from them and become more present.

4. Approach every moment with joy & creativity.

What if instead of dreading every task ahead of us for the day, we allowed ourselves to find joy in them? Rather than letting yourself be annoyed by the fact that you have to go grocery shopping, make it fun by looking for a new and exciting food you’d like to try. Next time you feel overwhelmed with a full inbox of emails to respond to, make it more enjoyable by playing your favorite high-vibe music and sipping on your favorite beverage at the same time. By approaching every single moment with creativity, we allow ourselves to enjoy our daily lives SO much more. Notice how time starts to fly by when you do this!

How to Tune Into the Frequency of Truth

How to Tune Into the Frequency of Truth

In today’s society, it’s so easy to feel trapped by the dichotomy of “good” vs. “bad” and “right” vs. “wrong.” So many people try to seek out the truth, but they find themselves pressured into picking between two extremes – and sometimes, neither option feels good (especially when we get caught up in all of the finger-pointing)! People often become so focused on trying to nail down what is the “truth”, that they tend to completely miss the point: Your truth is what feels good to you. (If you haven’t already listened to this podcast episode on The Frequency of Truth, be sure to check it out!)

If you’re ready to move beyond choosing what is “right” or “good” and start following what actually feels aligned to you, there are a few simple things you can do to start to tune into the frequency of truth.

In order to fully tune into what is in the frequency of truth for you, get comfortable with trusting yourself and listening to your intuition (this is where a lot of people get stuck!). Many of us have been conditioned to rely on other people for the answers and to seek external validation when we do form an opinion of our own. When we allow ourselves to trust ourselves, our vision doesn’t get clouded by other people’s opinions – and we realize that we don’t need anything or anyone else to tell us what is true for us.

Once you fully trust yourself, you can start to notice how you feel in certain situations. When you’re confronted with someone or something that makes you question what you believe, tune into how the situation is making you feel physically – our bodies give us so many signals, and many people tend to overlook them! Next time you come across an Instagram post preaching a certain lifestyle or belief system, notice how your body responds: Are you tense? Do you feel sick to your stomach? Do you feel energetically drained? Once you’re fully aware of how you feel physically, pay attention to your intuition. Is your logical brain telling you to believe what’s in front of you, but your heart is saying something else? These are all cues that what we’re confronted with is not vibrating at the frequency of truth.

When we’re able to tune into what’s vibrating at the frequency of truth, we’re able to live our lives in a way that feels aligned, magical, and overall good. We’re able to take “leaps of faith” that we know will work out in the end (regardless of how “risky” others might perceive them to be), because we trust our intuition and are listening to our truth. The clearer you become on your own truth, the more evident it becomes when things in your life are out of alignment and need to be shifted.

Start to pay attention to what vibrates at the frequency of truth for you, and watch the magic start to unfold!

3 Questions to Ask Yourself to Raise the Frequency of Your Environment

3 Questions to Ask Yourself to Raise the Frequency of Your Environment

You’ve probably noticed how your mood can drastically shift depending on the environment you’re in (you might notice you feel much calmer and happier on a sunny day at the beach than in a dark room with no windows!). That’s because everything in our environment – physical objects, colors, our food – vibrates at a certain frequency.

Something that can often get overlooked when we do the work to raise our vibration is our environment. Ever heard of someone wearing more green so they could work on opening up their heart chakra? Or someone painting their kitchen yellow to make the room feel more cheerful? These are examples of ways people can change their environment to influence their overall vibration.

As we continue to raise our frequency as a collective, now is the perfect time to clear out old energies – and one of the simplest ways to do this is to start with your immediate surroundings! Here are 3 questions you can ask yourself about the frequency of your environment, so you can start to raise the vibration of your surroundings:

1. How does my environment make me feel?

On a very basic level, start to take note of the different aspects of your environment and how they make you feel. Do you live in a city and feel stressed every time you hear sirens outside of your window? Does the decor in your room feel uplifting, or bland and uninspiring? Do the clothes you wear actually make you feel confident?

Once you’re clear on how your surroundings make you feel, you’ll have a better sense of where you can start to release items and energies that no longer serve you, or intentionally add items that raise your vibration.

2. Am I holding onto any clutter I don’t need?

Clutter not only can make us feel anxious and distracted – it can also be a sign that we are literally holding onto old energy! Do the objects you have stuffed away in your closet have attachments to old relationships or old versions of yourself?  Ask yourself which belongings still serve you now, and start to release the rest! It’s okay to have a lot of items, as long as they all feel high-vibration to you. Try to be intentional with every single object you choose to keep or add to your surroundings.

3. What is my Environment type in Human Design?

If you’re not already familiar with what Human Design is (check out this podcast episode!), it’s basically a personal blueprint of who you are & how your energy flows, so you can learn how to live fully in alignment. In Human Design, our Environment indicates our ideal surroundings for living in flow. While most of the Environment types are conceptual, you can often interpret them in a way that allows you to apply them to your everyday life. (For example, just because your Environment in Human Design is Caves doesn’t necessarily mean you need to live your life in a dark, cold cellar – people often interpret it as meaning you prefer enclosed, secure spaces where you have some control over who comes in and out, or somewhere like the corner of a coffee shop where people don’t notice you as much.)

Once you’ve reflected on these three questions, start by making small, intentional changes – like the outfit you decide to wear to work, or the piece of art you hang on the wall in your office – and notice how your vibration shifts!

4 Steps for Unpacking Where You’re Resisting Your True Essence

4 Steps for Unpacking Where You’re Resisting Your True Essence

It’s no surprise that some of the most transformative work we can do on a spiritual level is also some of the most challenging. This is especially true when we start to unpack who we identify as, what we’ve been conditioned to believe about ourselves, and who we actually want to be. One of my favorite methods for addressing these questions around identity is Shadow Work. When we start to identify the aspects of ourselves that we don’t like, we can start to look at why we resist these traits and learn how to accept them, perhaps reframe them, and love them so we can fully step into our most authentic selves.

Here are four steps your can take to start unpacking pieces of your identity that you’ve been resisting:

1. Become aware

The first step sounds simple – but it can actually be pretty challenging! Start by asking yourself what pieces of yourself – traits, emotions, or desires – you are currently resisting. If you’re having trouble figuring out where to start, look at where you get the most triggered! Are there any character traits, titles, or descriptors that people may call you that make you feel defensive, sad, angry, or uncomfortable?

Maybe you want to build and grow your own business, but you feel really uncomfortable when people label you as an entrepreneur. Or maybe you get extremely defensive when someone calls you controlling. As hard as it is to confront these feelings, awareness is key to being able to work through these emotions!

2. Make a list

As you start to identify the traits or labels that evoke a negative response in you, write them down! List the exact words that make you feel triggered, and next to them, write any emotions that those words elicit.

Take your time making this list as robust as you possibly can. For at least a week, notice where any feelings of resistance come up around your identity in your thoughts, your conversations, and your interactions with others. Sometimes the pieces of ourselves we resist the most are the least obvious to us!

3. Reflect

For each trait or label you wrote down, ask yourself why the associated feeling was your response. What conditioning or stereotypes might there be around that word for you? What experiences did you have as a child or adult that taught you to perceive those traits as something “bad”? Get to the root by journaling it out!

4. Re-evaluate

Now that you’re clear on why you’ve been resisting each of these aspects of your identity, it’s time to decide what does and does not still serve you.

Some aspects of ourselves are meant to provide contrast. For example, maybe you get defensive when people call you “slow”, but really, you just enjoy savoring every moment in life. If so, you might just want to work on allowing yourself to fully embrace and appreciate this trait!

Other aspects may trigger us because we don’t want to embody them. Maybe you get upset when people call you a jealous person, and that’s because it’s a trait that no longer serves you, and you are truly ready to work through it and release it.

In other instances, an aspect of our personality might trigger us because we don’t feel worthy of embracing it. For example, maybe someone calls you successful and it makes you feel uncomfortable, but you realize that it’s because you don’t feel deserving or like you’ve “earned” the right to that label yet. This can highlight the need to do some deeper work around self-worth!

I hope these four steps help you get clear on the pieces of yourself that you may have been resisting! Now that you’re aware of what aspects you’re resisting and you know what you’re ready to release or embrace, you can start to embrace the version of you that you want to become.
