If you’re able to score a well-known guest on your show, it can be an incredible opportunity to expand your reach and draw attention to your podcast! However, it’s important to keep in mind that the more popular the guest is, the more interviews they have under their belt – and the last thing that they (or their audience!) want is for another interview to sound exactly the same as the previous ones.
After hosting a number of renowned doctors, industry experts, and iTunes Top 50 podcast hosts as guests on my own show, I’ve learned how essential it is to make sure that your interview with a well-known guest stands out – that way you capture both your audience’s attention and your guest’s audience, too!
The main question you should be asking yourself in preparation for your interview is why your audience (and your guest’s) should listen to YOUR podcast interview with them over all of the other ones – or even after the other ones. How can you be sure you’re delivering new information or putting an exciting new spin on your questions?
Today, I’m breaking down three tips for asking your podcast guest engaging questions that can make your interview stand out.
1. Do your research.
Before brainstorming questions to ask your podcast guest, it’s important to listen to other interviews they’ve done in the past – this will help give you a good idea of what they’ve already been asked! If there’s something in particular they’re well-known for and get asked about ALL the time, try finding a different angle to take when asking them about it on your own show, or ask a follow-up question to something they’ve already answered on another show. It doesn’t hurt to make a list of the common questions you hear them being asked during their other interviews, either! Taking the time to do your research before the recording is key if you want your interview to sound new, original, and captivating to both audiences.
2. Use your own curiosity to inspire new questions.
After you’ve done your research, ask yourself what you still want to know! What talking points can you dive even deeper into? What questions were they asked on other podcasts that sparked new questions for you? Write them down!
You’re probably interviewing this particular guest because they offer a valuable or interesting message for your audience, so make sure you keep this in mind, too. Ask yourself what your audience would benefit from learning or wants to know about (you can even poll your listeners for questions!). Knowing how your guest connects to your niche and your audience can help you approach your interview from a relevant angle. For example, if your niche is technology and social media and you interview a famous beauty influencer, you can focus your questions around what programs and apps they used to build their brand.
3. Don’t be afraid to shake things up.
While being respectful is important, don’t be afraid to ask out-of-the-box (but appropriate) questions that will add some shock value and excite your audience. If you’re not sure whether you should ask certain questions, don’t be afraid to reach out to your guest beforehand and ask if any topics are off-limits!
Your podcast guest wants to have fun during this experience, too – and asking creative questions can lead your guest to share new information or funny stories that grab your listeners and help your episode stand out. There’s nothing better than when a guest says, “Good question – no one has ever asked me that before!”

If you’ve been to any of my Ahai™ 7D Healing Circles or Channel Collective 7D Drop-In Healings, you probably have a good idea of how beneficial (and transformative!) receiving energy healing can be.
A lot of clients ask me if there’s anything special they need to do on their end before receiving energy healing. The shorter answer? No – just relax and be ready to receive! However, if you really want to maximize how much you get out of each session, there are a few things you can do to help yourself prepare.
1.Be open and ready to receive.
If you show up to your energy healing session feeling closed-off and questioning whether the healing is going to “work”, you’re already blocking yourself from receiving its full benefits! It’s important to be both mentally and physically ready to receive your healing. Some exercises that can help you feel into what intentions you want to set for your sessions are meditating and journaling. I always tell my clients to say out loud or in their heads, “I am open to receive,” when we first begin, because this helps them energetically open up. Never underestimate the power of intention! If it’s your first time receiving energy healing, find out how your specific session will be facilitated to help you feel more confident going into it.
Don’t be afraid to communicate with your energy healer if you’re feeling nervous or closed off! Letting them know how you’re feeling allows them to work with you and adjust their practice accordingly.
2. Fully embrace the process.
Again – if you come to your session unprepared to embrace the energy healing, you aren’t going to benefit fully from it! If you have any questions or concerns about the session, have an open conversation with your energy healer beforehand so they can outline everything you can expect! Embracing the process also means releasing any judgment or fear around the energy healing, so make sure to arrive at your session with an open mind. Remember that every session is unique, and there is no “right” or “wrong” experience. It can be helpful to set the intention that the session will be exactly what you need for your highest and best at that time.
3. Don’t come in a rush.
This might not come as a surprise, but you’re not going to get the most out of your energy healing session if it’s rushed. It’s important to set aside enough time on a day where you aren’t booked up with other commitments to have your energy healing session. This can help you feel less stressed, more receptive, and better able to focus on the energy you are receiving. If you book your energy healing session and other plans pop up right before or after, you might want to reschedule your session for a day when you won’t feel pressed for time. Getting your session on your calendar in advance can help you make sure you keep a more open schedule that day. A lot of energy healers – including myself – recommend setting aside extra time after the session to rest and integrate! It’s important you allow yourself to be fully present in the experience, without being worried about what happened before or what your next plans are.
4. Tell your energy healer about any specific things you’d like to work on.
Your energy healer can target specific areas or blockages with their intention – but it’s best that you communicate anything specific you’d like them to focus on beforehand. Some things you can ask your energy healer to work on are past traumas, illnesses, physical injuries, or emotional blocks. Remember – your healer is here to help you, not to judge you! Don’t be afraid to be completely honest with them in order to get the most out of your session. If you’re hoping they’ll support you in a specific way, make sure that intention is known to them!
5. Take care of yourself after your session.
A lot of people underestimate the physical effects that energy healing can have on the body! After your session, it’s not uncommon to feel tired. (However, some people feel more energized.) Make sure to get rest, drink plenty of water, and fully integrate the healing you just received. This is another reason why it’s important to schedule your healing session on a day where you aren’t packed with to-dos! After your session is over, I strongly recommend taking a few minutes to simply rest and allow things to settle instead of rushing to your next task.

It can be easy to fall into victim mindset, especially during trying times in life where it feels like NOTHING is going right. Although it can be common to find yourself thinking “why me” or “this always happens” from time to time, it’s critical to shift out of this mindset if you want to reframe your subconscious beliefs and become an effortless manifestor – because this allows you to create real, positive changes in your life. Challenges come up in life – but we have the choice to either stay in the sadness or to move forward into healing and expansion.
A lot of my clients desperately want to get out of victim mindset, but they don’t know where to start or how to do it effectively. Instantaneous thought shifts can help you raise your vibration momentarily, but it’s the deep reflection and inner work that will set you up for success long term.
Today, I’m going over a list of five ways you can start getting out of the victim mindset, so you can raise your frequency and start to enact real, positive changes in your life.
1. Take responsibility for your reality.
One of the hallmarks of victim mindset is believing that you’re completely powerless over your situation. We might not be able to control everything that happens in our lives, but we CAN make decisions that influence our paths, and how we move forward. If you’re feeling trapped or powerless, I challenge you to dig deep and reflect on your personal role in getting yourself to where you are now (try your best to be objective!). What actions did you take that may have led you down this path? What mindset did you embody that could have influenced these decisions? Although it can be tough to sit with these thoughts at first, there is so much power and freedom in acknowledging them. On a larger level, your soul did choose to have this experience, whether or not you remember that consciously. What is it trying to teach you?
It’s important to remember that our choices do play a role in what happens in our lives. You make decisions every day – some small, some large. Tomorrow, you could make the decision to quit your 9-5 and start your own business. You could decide to go on a first date. You could decide to sell your house and travel. Some of these decisions might feel unrealistic at first, but the truth is you are entirely capable of making these types of decisions for yourself, at any moment. If you’re feeling trapped by your situation, ask yourself what decisions or changes you can make immediately to help shift you onto a more aligned path – they don’t have to be drastic! The simple decision to text your friend and ask for a chill movie night could give you the time you need to wind down and feel good in order to be productive the next day.
2. Express gratitude for what you DO have.
People who feel stuck in victim mindset often focus on what they don’t have, instead of what they do. An important step in breaking out of victim mindset is focusing on – and expressing gratitude for – the things you already have.
Although it might seem challenging at first, I promise there is ALWAYS something to be grateful for – no matter what your current situation is. Your friends, your partner, the air you breathe, the beautiful grass outside, your ability to see and hear, your imagination…A great exercise to start with is making a simple list each day of five things you are thankful for. They don’t have to be material things, either! You might be thankful for a sunny day or time spent with a friend. There are no rules – just write whatever makes you feel good and appreciative!
3. Realize that things happen FOR you, not TO you.
Sometimes, life can really test us. It happens to all of us!
A great way to start getting out of victim mindset so you can start manifesting what you DO want is to reframe events, feelings, and circumstances that have previously made you feel like a victim.
Getting fired from your job is a great example – this is something that can send you down a complete emotional spiral if you perceive it as something horrible and unfair that happened to you. But what if you looked at it as an opportunity, instead? What if this gives you the time and freedom to finally pursue building your own business like you’ve always dreamed of? What if it allows you to travel for a month before looking for a new job? Reframing your beliefs in this way can take time and practice, but when you stick to it, it can start to become second nature. Adopting this mindset as an entrepreneur has helped me adapt to so many different challenging situations – and it’s transformed my outlook in all other areas of my life, too!
4. Set 48-hour “no complaint” periods.
This exercise can take some getting used to, but it can really pay off over time. Challenge yourself to set 48-hour “no complaint” periods where you notice any negative thoughts that enter your awareness and immediately transmute them into something positive. Instead of complaining that the line at Starbucks made you late to work, focus on how grateful you are for the hard-working staff during the crazy morning rush, or see it as the Universe’s way of giving you an extra little break before starting your morning tasks.
The first few hours of this practice can feel difficult – especially if you’re around other people who like to complain – but once you pass the one-day mark, you’ll probably notice how little effort it can take to observe all of the positive things you’re surrounded by.
5. Set (loving) boundaries with people in your life who are caught in victim mindset.
This doesn’t mean you have to cut everyone who complains occasionally out of your life – we all get into bad moods or struggle to be appreciative sometimes! However, if there are people in your life who seem to always find something to complain about – the weather, their job, their lack of time management skills – it’s important to set firm boundaries with them.
This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be there for your friends and family – it means that you are choosing to respect your own wellbeing enough to recognize when someone else’s vibration is impacting yours. Setting boundaries can be done in a loving way – and if the person you set them with truly loves you, they’ll understand and respect you for it. Limiting the time you spend with them one-on-one, preventing yourself from being used for venting, and letting them know that you are in the process of changing your own mindset are all great first steps! It’s also helpful to reflect on – if this person is at the frequency of complaining all the time…are they really the type of person I want in my life?
I hope these tips help you reclaim your power and shift into a more positive mindset! Have any other tips for breaking free from victim mentality? Share them below!

One of my favorite things about being in the podcasting space is having the ability to form instantaneous and authentic connections with people in my industry. As weird as it might sound, diving into a deep conversation with a total stranger can often create a bond that turns into a lifelong friendship!
Aside from the fact that podcasting has brought me incredible friendships, these connections have also been extremely valuable for expanding my reach and growing my audience.
Today, I’m telling you exactly how you can use your podcast network to maximize your reach and scale your audience to achieve huge growth – and to help your friends achieve it, too!
1. Have each other as guests on your shows.
This one seems like a no-brainer, but when was the last time you ACTUALLY invited a podcasting friend to be a guest on your show? When was the last time they invited you to be on theirs?
Think of any friends or connections in your podcast network that can offer a valuable message to your audience, and invite them to be interviewed on your show! Bringing on someone with an interesting message or unique perspective can help engage your existing audience, and you’ll probably get exposure to your friend’s audience too, if they promote the episode when it airs. You can also suggest doing a “pod swap” where you interview your friend on your show, and they host you on theirs in return.
2. Do “ad swaps.”
Another great way to make sales and get exposure – without having to pay – is asking your friends to promote your products or services on their podcast in exchange for you promoting theirs on your own show. This is also a great way to support each other’s businesses!
Make sure the trade is fair – if one of you has a bigger audience than the other for example, the person with the smaller audience can promote more products or air more ads to help make it an even exchange.
When asking a friend to promote your products or services, let them know exactly what they should be pushing. Research their niche and figure out which of your products or services are the most relevant and helpful to their audience.
3. Ask them to connect you with some of their guests.
If you listen to your friends’ podcasts (which you totally should!) and notice that one of them has an awesome guest on their show, ask them if they would be comfortable with connecting you with that guest! Connections are everything, and if the guest had a good experience on your friend’s show, they’ll be much more likely to do a guest interview with someone your friend recommends (you!). (That being said, don’t be pushy. Connections aren’t always appropriate, so honor your friend’s judgment / comfort level.)
It’s important not to copy their interview, so have your own ideas prepared if you do end up getting your friend’s guest on your show. Out of respect, ask different questions and put a different spin on the interview – especially if you and your friend are in the same niche. If your friend’s audience enjoyed their interview with that guest, they’ll probably be interested in what the guest has to say on your show, too – as long as the topics discussed are different enough!
4. Share insights and tips.
When it comes to growing your show, using your connections as a resource is key. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help and advice when you need it, and don’t hesitate to help others out when they ask for yours, too.
Ask your podcasting friends what they’ve done to successfully grow their audiences. Did they get on any specific shows that helped them take off? Did they offer a giveaway in exchange for reviews? You don’t need to (and shouldn’t) copy their exact approach, but having an idea of the methods they’ve had success with can give you a great jumping-off point for your own growth strategy.
If there’s something you did that led to a jump in listeners or subscribers, tell your friends so they can consider testing those techniques, too. Remember – more success for them does not mean less success for you!
